Update April 05/04/21

Dear Member,

Thank you for renewing your membership of Barnsley Squash and Racketball club.

Shaw Lane can give a bit of good news.

The site is now open in the evenings and weekends in outdoor areas only. Astroturf is also available for hire.
At the moment the club bar and other indoor areas including changing rooms are not able to be opened although the toilets in the main corridor obviously are available.

On the 12th April at 4:30 the upper and lower outdoor terrace facing on to the cricket field at the front of the club will be open for drinks, service will be available at table only and we will have enough bar and waiting staff to be able to cope with the expected demand. The area is uncovered so In the event of inclement weather a decision will be taken by the bar staff as to whether to close or not. After all its no fun drinking in the rain!
Opening hours are as follows
Weekdays open 4.30pm
Weekend open 1pm both days
Closing times will again vary subject to demand and daylight hours.
Payment and ordering by app is available as are card and cash payments
The indoor bar area will not be open either for drinking or sitting and the balcony will be closed.

Please be careful driving in the car park. Watch your speed in this area and be aware that staff carrying trays will be using the designated crossing points as well as pedestrians.

Please note that old members cards will no longer be accepted in the bar.

But as a Squash club member, who was good enough to renew, you will get a new Privilege Card.

Privilege cards will be valid for members bar price discounts. The card will give other benefits. These advantages will be rolled out gradually and a list of partners will be prominently displayed in the club and notified to you.

Cards are only be available via squash club membership, therefore the bar staff will not be able to issue them nor give discount arbitrarily, as they have been able to in the past. This is not them being awkward, the system just doesn’t allow it.

The privilege cards are to be mailed out.

However, the squash club do not hold all 2021 members’ postal addresses. Therefore, in order for you to receive your privilege card, please email your current postal address to nigelgodwin1@me.com

This will allow Shaw Lane staff to dispatch your privilege card.

There is provisional news from SquashEngland that squash could start again on April 12th for solo practice, same household games, junior coaching and one to one adult coaching. This is provisional and hopefully will be confirmed during the week beginning 5th April. If this confirmation happens then the committee will contact members regarding arrangements at the club.

Continue to stay safe.

Best Regards,
Nigel Godwin - Secretary

Please email your postal address as soon as possible.
