Overhead Barrier at Shaw Lane Entrance

Dear Members,

Please read below the letter from Dave, the General Manager of the Shaw Lane Sports Club.

Thanks

Hello all

The site experienced an incursion by travellers some years ago which caused a great deal of trouble to all at the club and on site.

It took several weeks to get rid of them and quite honestly no user of the site was unaffected by the nuisance that they caused. To at least deter them we installed the over height barrier which is our insurance against further settlements. This has been largely left open in the last few weeks, I am considering changing the combination which has been issued to too many people who don’t care whether the site and its tenants sink or swim. Because of the design of the barrier, leaving it open is also causing stress to the structure which wasn’t designed to be left open.

Before I act, I would ask you to help us all by closing the barrier if its left open – even though it wasn’t you that opened it. I would also ask that if your parents/members/clients are in receipt of the code then you pass the sentiments of this eMail to them – many people think leaving it open is funny – its not. We have just survived Covid-19 and a closure of the site is the last thing we all want.

This is for everyone’s security and I thank you in advance for your help in this matter.
